If you have registered to view your medical records online, you can see some of your results by logging on to the online system. If not you can telephone the practice for test results. Please ring after 2.00 pm for test results.
Your results cannot be given to another person due to confidentiality reasons, unless you have requested this and it is recorded in your notes.
Most blood tests take approximately 2-3 working days to return, with specialised tests taking longer. X-ray and scan results are usually received by the practice 10-14 days after the test was performed.
Test results requested by the hospital go back to the doctor who requested them and not to your GP. If you are waiting for results requested by the hospital and have not heard anything back from them please contact their secretary.
We will try to contact you if there is an urgent abnormal result- so please make sure we have an up to date contact number. In most cases the doctor will discuss the results with you at your next appointment.
It is your responsibility to telephone for results, as we process large numbers of tests each day and are unable to telephone individual results.
